BMT SENIOR ENLISTED LEADER

The BMT Senior Enlisted Leader position was created in the late 1960s and was initially recognized as the BMT Superintendent. Prior to its creation, BMT had two senior enlisted leadership positions. One was the Chief of Operations and the other was the Chief of Standardization/Evaluation. Both of these individuals reported directly to the BMT Commander and neither had any operational control over the other. Desiring to bring the group in line with other operational units within the Air Force, BMT realigned and created the BMT Superintendent's position, which is now known as the BMT Senior Enlisted Leader. This individual was responsible for providing advice and guidance to the BMT Commander on all issues affecting training, as well as enlisted matters. While the position is traditionally held by an individual with experience as a military training instructor, it has not always been that way. Regardless, the individuals who served in this position have been some of the most talented enlisted leaders the Air Force has produced.
