BMT COMMANDER

The Air Force Basic Military Training Commander has taken on many different titles and designations through the years. In the beginning basic training was broken up into at least four training groups: 3700 BMTG (Basic Military Training Group), the 3710 BMTG, the 3720 BMTG, and the 3721 BMTG. Later these groups were consolidated under the 3700 BMS (Basic Military School), which was later renamed the 3700 BMTS (Basic Military Training School) and is currently the 737 TRG (Training Group). Regardless of its designation, since 1946 basic enlisted training has been taking place at Lackland Air Force Base where more than four million young men and women have transitioned from civilian life to service in the greatest Air and Space Force in the world! The following individuals have been the leaders of the various units that now make up Air Force basic training.
